1/6/2024 0 Comments Ozone contact bar 2012![]() ![]() I find the turbo bar great in the buggy - it allows me to mostly fly one handed and sit much more face-on to the direction of travel than handles do. Pulling the bar in simply pulls the brakes on exactly the same as handles (except easy to do one handed). Ozone advertise (or did) the turbo bar as having 'depower through the brakes'. I'd rather not have the turbo bar than do that. The turbo bar will work fine for the Octanes and if you buy a depower kite, you're most likely going to get the bar with it - I would most certainly not try and save a hundred bucks by buying a depower kite as 'kite only'. I've been able to buy bars cheaply from both Kitepower and Briskites - just depends on what they've got lying about. I can't see any reason why you couldn't remove the link/pulleys between the brake and power lines, but I think you'd be much better off finding a cheap new or s/h bar and rigging up you're own depower bar. It was not as good as the depower bar, but it did work ok. LIke Andy said, there wasn't as much bar travel and of course, no trim strap adjuster (although my 2010 Access doesn't have that anyway). Just for giggles, I put the turbo bar on an Ozone access 4m to see how it went and it worked fine. to the Turbo Bar to achieve the same thing? Are these parts even sold on their own? I'm not looking to skimp out on safety features, just don't want to pay for two very expensive control bars that are almost identical in construction and function. If pulling the front safety release on the Turbo Bar lets the power lines way out (pulling on the brakes), and pulling the chicken loop release on the depower bar lets the steering lines way out (depowering), could I add just this part: Is there any reason why you can't use the Ozone Turbo Bar with a depower kite by removing the outer pulleys and connecting the outer lines directly? Looking at photos the center safety release is the only real difference I can see, and I know the thing has to be built strong enough to hold up to big kites. I've googled around but haven't come across an answer to my question, which is: I'd like to try flying some small depower kites with a harnes, but am also interested in trying the fixed bridle kites with something like the Turbo Bar. I've been flying fixed-bridle kites for the past year or so and really enjoy my Ignition 3m and Octane 5m.
